Learning Task 1:   Finish reading and writing about mentor text poems by teens

 Go to news section of eClass, click on the announcement for today for Period 3B and follow the instructions.  We are finishing the work we started in class on Tuesday.  Everything will be completed online.

 Estimated time to complete:  20 minutes.


Learning Task 2:  Complete the Writing Plan handout for your very own “Where I’m From” Poem

 A completed example is available for you to look at in the news section of eClass today.  Show Ms. Hamilton when you complete the work.  I must see this before you begin typing a draft.

 Estimated time to complete:  20 minutes


Learning Task 3:  Type and print the draft of your poem.

Follow the guidelines for writing your own poem and keep in mind the qualities of the mentor poems we’ve seen Tuesday and today.

  1.   If you can access your Lanier Google account, go to the assignment for this task in Google Classroom.  If you forgot the code for our class, check eClass or email Ms. Hamilton at Buffy_J_Hamilton@gwinnett.k12.ga.us. 
  2. If you cannot access your Lanier Google account, type it in your own personal Google account in DOCS or type in Word and save to your H directory.

 Send your print jobs to the B printer, and include your name on your draft.

Learning Task 4:  Complete your Writer’s Notebook Self-Assessment 1.

 The link to the instructions for writing your argumentative paragraph to support your claim for the grade for your best WNB entry 1-7 this is in our news section of eClass today.  Ms. Hamilton also has a hard copy printed out if you would rather use that. 

  1. Option 1:  If you can access your Lanier Google account, type your paragraph in Google Classroom.  Ask for help if you need it.
  2. Option 2: If you cannot access your Lanier Google account, type your paragraph in your own Google Docs account OR in Word (SAVE TO THE H DRIVE!).

 Estimated Time to Complete:  15-20 minutes

Learning Task 6:  Download the Free Seesaw app on your phone

Estimated Time to Complete: 5 minutes


Learning Task 7:  Join our Seesaw Class if you have not already

  • Get the free Seesaw Classroom app.
  • Choose “I’m a Student”
  • Choose Email/Google Account–you can use your personal or Lanier email
  • Choose “New Student?”
  • Choose “Create Email Account” or “Sign in with Google”
  • Type in the code: go to eClass for the code or email Ms. Hamilton at Buffy_J_Hamilton@gwinnett.k12.ga.us .
  • Finish creating your account using your school email address or email address you can access.

Estimated Time to Complete: 3 minutes


Learning Task 8:  Snap and record

  1. Snap a photo of your best entry.
  2. Record an audionote in Seesaw; read your paragraph you printed.
  3. When you select upload, you will place it in the folder WNB Self-Assessment 1.

Estimated Time to Complete: 5 minutes


Learning Task 9:  Turn in your work

  • Staple your WNB Self-Assessment 1 checklist on top of your print paragraph.
  • Turn in this work to Ms. Hamilton
